Obituary

Mario Orsini, of Newburgh, entered into rest on Friday, October 23, 2015. He was 95. Born in Italy on October 26, 1919, he traveled to the U.S. when he was 16 to join his family in Newburgh, NY. Marty, as he was called, became an auto mechanic, however, he was a jack-of-all-trades, and often helped friends and family with car or home repairs. Marty was in combat in WWII in Europe and Africa. He was the Sergeant over the motor pool. He worked with high ranking officers as an interpreter, to set up the Isle of Capri for soldiers & pilots to get R&R. When he returned home from the war, honorably discharged, he continued as an auto mechanic, working for several shops before staying with Derham Frame & Axle. He married Marion Dorothy Santoro on November 9,1947 and built their home in New Windsor NY. Marty was a loving father, whose every motivation was for his family. He always had a smile on his face, and was truly loved by everyone he knew. He will be greatly missed by his survivors: his wife Marion, his children, Francine Orsini of Montgomery, Enrico Orsini and wife Anita of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and their children, Christopher and wife Stephanie, and Brandon Orsini; his sisters-in-law, Frances Monaco and husband Frank of Newburgh, and Fanny Orsini of Cornwall; nieces and nephews Barbara Pirillo of New Windsor, Anthony Monaco of New Windsor, Linda and Charles Bivona of Orange Lake, Carla and Michael Miegel of upstate NY, Mary and John Williamson of Cornwall, and John and Debbie Horas of Newburgh; and all the great-nephews and great-nieces. Marty is pre-deceased by his sister, Dina DiDonato of Newburgh, and most recently his older brother, Rocco Orsini of Cornwall. We would like to acknowledge and thank Hospice of Newburgh for the care and assistance they provided, as well as the effort they put into placing Marty in Castle Point VA Nursing home; specifically Lynn Howard and Marshall (Wil) DeBruhl. The loving care that the staff at the Veterans Village in Castle Point provided was more than any family would wish for their loved one. God Bless you all! We will miss you Dad so very much. Visitation will be held from 3-6 pm on Thursday, October 29 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. A service and military honors will follow the visitation at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties, Inc., 800 Stony Brook Ct., Newburgh, NY 12550 in memory of Mario.
