Mark Catlin Swartz, 33, of Newburgh, New York, passed away on October 30, 2025. Born on March 31, 1992, in Poughkeepsie, New York, Mark brought joy and warmth to all who knew him throughout his life.
A devoted and compassionate caregiver, Mark was a CPR-certified Personal Care Aide (PCA) who took immense pride in his work. He approached each day with dedication and heart, going to work not just as a job but as a calling. He cared deeply for the residents he served and was known for being extremely helpful and attentive in his role. His kindness and commitment left a lasting impression on those he worked with and cared for.
Mark's life was centered around family and community. He found happiness in spending time with his loved ones—whether through family dinners filled with laughter or simply enjoying music and dancing together. His love for coloring reflected his creative spirit, while his vibrant personality made him the life of every gathering. Mark had a gift for bringing people together and making them feel seen and valued.
He is lovingly remembered by his mother, Catherine Lewis; his aunt and caregiver Hope Miller; aunt Tammy Miller; uncles Alvin Mickel, Frank Simpson (and wife Donna Simpson), and Donell Lacks; sister Catherine Swartz Dortch; nephew Ra'Quonn Swartz; nieces Forever Johnson, Armani Harrison, Honesty Harrison, Free Dortch, and Gorgeous Dortch; godchildren and cousins Esperanza Reyes Miller and Nakita Singh Miller; along with numerous cousins he held dear and an outstanding number of beloved friends whose lives were brightened by his presence.
Mark was preceded in death by his grandmother Edith Swartz; aunt and caregiver Edith Mickel; aunt Charlene Lacks; and niece Journey Dortch.
Mark's legacy is one of love, humility, joy, and unwavering care for others. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him and continue to inspire acts of kindness in the world he leaves behind.
