Mary Ann Cunningham (Walsh) of Ocean City, NJ and a long-time resident of Newburgh, passed away at Shore Memorial Hospital on March 9, 2025 after a long illness. She was 71 years old.
Born in Newburgh, NY on October 1, 1953, she was the daughter of the late James B. Walsh, Sr. and Caroline (Boris) Walsh.
Mary Ann was a graduate of St. Francis Grammar School and Newburgh Free Academy. She continued her education and went on to receive a Bachelor of Arts degree in criminal justice from John Jay College in New York City. Mary Ann was employed by the Orange County Department of Probation until her retirement. In 2010 she relocated to Ocean City, NJ where she enjoyed many years living at the beach. She enjoyed winters in Florida and also traveling the country in her RV and visiting many national parks.
Survivors include her husband, William J. "Bill" Cunningham; her brothers, James B. Walsh, Jr. and his wife Millie of Cherry Hill, NJ and John M. Walsh and his wife Ann of Newburgh; and numerous nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; and her brother Thomas R. Walsh who passed away in 2023.
Mary Ann was a true lover of all animals. She dedicated her life to the rescue and fostering of many dogs. She is also survived by her canine family of Kasey and Moose.

A memorial visitation will be held at Brooks Funeral Home on Friday, April 11 from 5 - 8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Saturday, April 12 at St. Francis Church. Burial will follow at St. Francis Cemetery.
