Mary J. La Valle a lifelong Newburgh resident entered into rest on November 14, 2014 surrounded by her loving family at Elant at Meadow Hill in Newburgh. She was 100 years old. The daughter of the late Juliano and Cesidia (Mastroianni) Palmerone, she was born on March 12, 1914 in Newburgh, NY. She married Eugene J. La Valle on June 9, 1935 in Newburgh, NY. Together they owned and operated the West End Bar and Grill for many years in Newburgh. Mary was a member of Sacred Heart Parish in Newburgh. Mary is survived by her children: Arthur La Valle and his wife Mary of Little Ferry, NJ, son-in-law Eddie Meddaugh of Newburgh, NY; her grandchildren: Jeff Miller of Delmar, NY, Gary Miller of Goshen, NY, Kevin La Valle of River Edge, NJ, Kim Romano of Las Vegas, NV, Janet Aurora of Herndon, VA, Pat Patnaude of Newark, Delaware, Lynne Karrick of Newburgh, Karen Lavery of Verona, NJ, Eileen Switzer of Metuchen, NJ, Karen Cantone of Marlboro, NY, Kathy Dettloff of Fallston, MD; 27 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and family friends. In addition to her parents Mary was predeceased by her husband Eugene J. La Valle, her daughters: Carmella Miller and Mary Ann Meddaugh; her son-in-law George Miller; her sisters: Helen DeMeo and Louise Favoriti; and her brother Horace Palmerone. Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 pm on Sunday, November 16 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am on Monday, November 17 at Sacred Heart Church, Newburgh. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Mary's name to Elant at Meadow Hill, 172 Meadow Hill Road, Newburgh, NY 12550.
