Mary Jean Maselli

Mary Jean (Berry) Maselli passed away peacefully at home on Friday, May 30, 2025. She was 104.

The daughter of Mary McClintock Berry and Albert Berry, she was born in Lawrence, MA on September 15, 1920. Jean's family moved to Newburgh in 1924, where she graduated from the Newburgh Free Academy. She married Nicholas D. Maselli in 1952. Survived by her son, John Maselli, Jean is predeceased by her beloved husband Nick (1966) and daughters Mary Maselli and Nina Maselli.

She is also predeceased by her son, Gary Griffin, from her first marriage to Ed Griffin, and by her children from her blended family with Nick: daughters, Agnes Belody, and Anita DeMauro, and sons, Dominick (Butch) Maselli and Nicholas D. Maselli, Jr. Jean was also predeceased by her sister, Elizabeth Wagner.

She is also survived by grandchildren, Michael Griffin, Margaret Griffin, and Anne Maselli, and great-grandchildren, Margaret Woods, Griffin Woods and Nicholas Maselli. Additional survivors include many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Jean was an avid reader and greatly enjoyed being the matriarch of her large and lively family. She first went to work at Newburgh Town Hall in 1967, working in the supervisor's office until she retired 20 years later. She went to work for her nephew Dan Wagner in his contracting business, before returning to Town Hall where she once again worked until age 98 when she retired.

Services will be held at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh, NY, on Tuesday, June 3, 2025 from 5-7 p.m. Burial will be held the following day in Bloomfield, CT at noon in St. Benedict Hill Cemetery.
