Mary V. Peel

May 25, 1929 ~ March 18, 2024

Mary was born in Newburgh, NY on May 25, 1929, to Walter J. and Kathryn Nettleton Peel, the youngest of six children.

Mary attended St. Patrick's Elementary School and was a 1947 graduate of Mount Saint Mary Academy.

Upon graduation, Mary first worked for the State of New York on a program for the development of fluoride in the NY water supply.  After which she worked for many years a medical secretary for Dr. Bouton in Newburgh.   Upon Dr. Bouton's retirement, Mary began a 20-year career with IBM, first a as a secretary in the Patent Attorneys office and ending her career as editor of the IBM newsletter.

Mary spent her retirement years volunteering at both Saint Patricks' Church and Nora Cronin Presentation Academy in Newburgh.

Besides her parents, Mary is predeceased by her brothers Walter and Francis Peel, sisters Claire Peel, Agnes Vandermark, Jeanne Sherman and niece Sandra Slack.

She is survived by nephews Dennis (Brenda) Peel, Michael (Melanie) Fescoe, Lynn Fescoe, Randy (Beth) Fescoe, Greg Fescoe, Kenneth Vandermark and niece Ginny Fauci and nine great nieces and nephews.

Mary's family wish to express their appreciation to the staff at The Covenant Living of Cromwell for the excellent care they provided in her final years.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Church on May 9 at 10 AM, followed by burial at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
