Mary Regina (Dale) Rohme, 94, of Newburgh, N.Y. passed away peacefully on April 29, 2013 at St. Lukes Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh. Born December 1, 1918, Mary was the daughter of Thomas and Elsie Dale. She married Joseph Rohme on November 18, 1941 and they were married 54 years before Joe's passing on February 6, 1996. Mary loved her church and family and was totally devoted to both. Mary enjoyed being part of the St. Mary's Seniors, Club 60, Women's Republican Club and volunteering with Meals on Wheels. She was a happy member of the "Lady Bachelors", a club of best girlfriends who met every Thursday night for more than sixty years. Mary was an avid shopper, she looked forward to her Wednesday lunches and and she sure loved her NY Mets. Mary's passion for cooking was enjoyed at home and work. She was a cook for the Newburgh City School District at North Junior High School and loved working at West Point Farms. Mary is survived by her two daughters, Patricia DeLeo and her husband Gerard of Highland, Theresa Penney and her husband Robert of New Windsor, grandson Robert Penney, Jr. of Taylor Mills, Kentucky, brother Frank Dale and his wife Meredith of Naples, Fl. Mary was very proud of being Godmother to Marc Giammarco, John Dale, Jr., Debbie Cramsie, and Jonathan Dale. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Margaret Dale and Toni Dale, and many beloved nieces and nephews. She will also be greatly missed by Sherry Winningham and many other dear friends. Mary was predeceased by her four brothers, Thomas, Henry (Pat), John and William Dale and her six sisters, Margaret Salisbury, Helen McCann, Emily Giammarco, Betty DeGeorge, Josephine Ashby, and Dorothy Talasco. The family would like to thank Roberta Russo, Ginny McCormack, Annette Hammen and Catherine Heffernan. Their comfort and kindness to Mary and the family will never be forgotten. Visitation for family and friends will be held Thursday, May 2 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh, N.Y. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, May 3 at St. Mary's Church 180 South Street, Newburgh with Rev. William Scafidi officiating. In lieu of flowers, Mary has requested that donations be made in her name to her most cherished St. Mary's Church.
