New Windsor, New York
Maureen Ann Kelly, 77, of New Windsor, NY passed on July 28, 2021, in the presence of her loving family at Columbia-Presbyterian Hospital, after a long battle with gastroparesis.
Maureen was born at St. Ann's Hospital in NYC to Patrick and Bridget Doorly on December 29, 1943. She was raised in the Bronx and was a graduate of Cathedral High School. She married Richard "Chip" Kelly on October 1, 1966, at Our Lady of Mercy. In her earlier years, she was instrumental in founding the Bryn Mawr Ridge Tenant Association in Yonkers. She worked at the Military Ordinariate and McGraw Hill, both in NYC.
After moving to New Windsor in 1978, she was a homemaker for many years, raising three beautiful children. She volunteered as a Girl Scout/Brownie leader and at St. Joseph's elementary school and later worked as a sales representative for Roche Pharmaceutical and Morris Alper. Maureen was a member of the Catholic Daughters, the Columbiettes, and the steering committee of the food pantry at St. Francis of Assisi in Newburgh.
Maureen supported several charities including Children International, Food for the Poor, and St. Jude's Hospital. She loved to read, watch a good sci-fi movie and her laughter was infectious, but what she loved most of all was being a mother and grandmother.
Maureen is survived by her husband, her children Michael (Jill Jones), Lisa (Mike Alfano), Theresa (James Wallace), and her granddaughter Madison Maureen Alfano. She is predeceased by her parents and sister, Kathleen Edwards.
Visitation will be Tuesday, August 3, from 4-7 p.m. at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Avenue, Newburgh, NY 12550. Her funeral mass will be held Wednesday, August 4, at 10 a.m.atSt Francis of Assisi Church. Interment will follow at St Francis Cemetery on Union Ave. in New Windsor, NY.
