Maurice M. Aversano

Maurice Mario Aversano, known to all who loved him as "Murray," passed away peacefully on December 7, 2024, at the age of 78. He was surrounded by his family at the time of his death.

Born in Genoa, Italy, on May 19, 1946, Maurice emigrated to the United States at a young age, settling in New York. He was the beloved son of the late Guido and Elsa Aversano.

Murray spent over two decades of his life working with the New York City Department of Sanitation, where he was a dedicated employee until his retirement in 1993. He was a long-time member of the Uniform Sanitation Men's Association, Local 831.

He was a loving father to Lisa McCloskey (Craig), Lea Domestico (Greg), and Vincent Aversano (Kristy). He was also a proud grandfather to Gianna (16), Luca (12) Aversano and Thomas Domestico (16), who brought him immense joy.

Maurice was predeceased by his wife, Rose Aversano, who passed away in 1998. He also leaves behind his brother, Alex Aversano (Linda), and sister, Christine Donahue (Steve), as well as his partner, Sandra Rodriguez of Rockland County, NY, with whom he shared many happy years. Murray was also a beloved uncle to a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews.

Visitation will be held at Brooks Funeral Home 481 Gidney Ave, Newburgh, NY 12550 on December 12, 2024, 4:00pm-7pm, with a service at 6:30 pm. Friends and family are invited to celebrate Murray's life and to offer their condolences.
