Michael Corrado Sr., 88, passed away Saturday, October 2, 2021. Born in Isernia, Italy on September 4, 1933, Michael was the son of Pasquale Corrado and Maria Formichelli. On September 7, 1959 in Newburgh, he married his beloved wife Dora (Ercolano) Corrado, who predeceased him in 2018.
Trained as a horticulturist in Italy, Michael emigrated to the U.S. in 1958, where he worked as an electrician for the Oscar Fisher Company for 15 years. He retired from Dutchess Community College, Poughkeepsie, N.Y., as head electrician in 1996. He lived in Newburgh upon his arrival from Italy and moved to Marlboro, N.Y. in 1975. He was a talented gardener, and craftsman who designed and built two of his own homes, and was envied for his lush landscapes and bountiful gardens. He was a lifelong parishioner of Sacred Heart Church in Newburgh.
Michael is survived by his younger brother, Anthony Corrado of Isernia, Italy; three sons, Michael Corrado and his wife Lyra, Joseph Corrado and his wife Karen, and Anthony Corrado and his wife Donna, all from Newburgh and Marlboro. He is also survived by six grandchildren; Nicole Corrado, Angela Corrado, Jessica Corrado, Kristen Corrado, Brianna Corrado, and Joseph Corrado Jr. Also surviving are cousins Louise Corrado of Newburgh and Lena Bernasconi of Fishkill, N.Y., and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his sister, Giuseppina Corrado.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday, October 7, at Brooks Funeral Home, Newburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m., Friday, October 8 at Sacred Heart Church in Newburgh, NY with entombment following in Cedar Hill Mausoleum.
