Michael Giametta Jr passed away at the age of 19 on March 16, 2021. He is survived by his parents, Michael and Maria Giametta, sister Mia Giametta, 17, and brother Anthony Giametta, 14, all of Cornwall, NY; Uncles and Aunts, Michael and Vicky Fanelli of Greenwood SC, John and Marcella Fanelli of Boynton Beach FL, David and Heidi Blinn of Port St. Lucie FL, Gary and Colleen Giametta of Highland, NY, Charles Giametta of Marlboro, NY and Godparents, Frank Brancato of Dix Hills, NY and Angela Distefano of Newburgh, NY. He had so many wonderful cousins which are too lengthy to list. He is predeceased by his grandparents, Charles and Jean Giametta, Adelle Winters, and John Fanelli.
Michael attended SUNY Plattsburgh and was in his sophomore year. At Plattsburgh, Michael majored in psychology. He always aspired to relate and help others. He was well known in the Cornwall community and very active in youth football where he was awarded Iron Man status, playing consistently from ages 6 through 13 years old. He loved youth sports and even though he was one of the smallest players on the field, would often take on the largest player due to his perseverance. He was also an avid NY Giants Fan and often shared commentary and video highlights with his father. He had a love for his mother like no other and there was nothing he wouldn't have done for her. They truly were the best of friends. He loved hanging out with his girlfriend, Sarah Martin, and in his spare time would always be with his close group of friends. He constantly tried to make others happy and his contagious smile and laughter always shined. The outpouring of love from this community has been a testament to the lives he has touched.
Visitation will be held from 2:30 - 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 20 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh.
