Michael "Mike" Frank Pettit, Town of Newburgh, NY, a beloved partner, friend, and talented musician and Human Resources professional, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, November 28, 2024.  He was 65 years old. It is with great sadness and heavy hearts to all those that knew him.

Son of the late Frank M. and Genevieve (Cope) Pettit, he was born April 17, 1959 in Brooklyn, NY. Mike attended the State University of New York at New Paltz, earning a Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources Administration. He spent much of his professional life as the Human Resources Executive for Mount St. Mary Dominican Sisters of Hope, a role that allowed him to make a meaningful impact on many lives. Alongside his professional career, Mike devoted much of his life to caring for his parents and his beloved dogs, Teddy Roosevelt Pettit and Trouble Tahiti Pettit.

A gifted musician, Mike was an accomplished percussionist and vocalist, celebrated for his dynamic drumming and powerful, soulful voice. He was a cornerstone of the Hudson Valley music scene, performing for decades with various bands alongside lifelong friends. Mike's passion for music brought joy and inspiration to countless people and cemented his legacy as a respected and admired artist.

Mike's kindheartedness, generosity, and loyalty touched everyone who knew him. His unwavering dedication to his loved ones and his community will be remembered and cherished by the many lives he touched. He leaves behind a family of close friends and admirers who will continue to celebrate his life and legacy.

Michael is survived by his life partner, Gladys Stevenson and his two nieces, Erin Soybelman (Robertson) of Long Beach Island, NJ and Colleen Givens (Robertson) of North Carolina.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Jane Robertson.

In accordance with Mike's wishes, initial services will be private, held at the convenience of his family and close friends. To celebrate his life and legacy, a public musical benefit in his honor will be announced in the near future.
