Michael A. Witkowski, 78, of New Windsor NY, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2026.
Michael was born o February 18, 1947, in New Rochelle, New York, to the late Ann and Tony Witkowski. He attended grammar school and graduated from New Rochelle High school in 1964.
A proud veteran, Michael served his country in the United States Air Force beginning in 1964. Following his military service, he dedicated himself to law enforcement, serving honorably as a Patrolman with the Hastings-on-Hudson Police Department until his retirement from the Force in1990. Throughout his career he exemplified integrity, courage, and a deep commitment to protecting and serving his community.
A longtime resident of New Windsor, Michael was known for his steady presence, quiet strength, and unwavering loyalty to those he loved. His sense of duty extended beyond his profession and into every aspect of his life. He will be remembered for his wisdom, reliability, and the respect he earned from his colleagues, friends, and neighbors alike.
Michael was a strong minded, kind hearted, warm person. Had a good sense of humor. Loved his family and would not hesitate to help whenever possible. He loved animals, movies, music and sports. He read and watched anything related to history.
Michael is survived by his beloved wife, Felicia Witkowski, and his in-laws: Sofia and Wassim, Anna, Blay and Susan, Lubia and Bill, Marce and Mike, as well as many nieces and nephews. He has two cousins, John and (Caren)Witkowski, Mikey and (Jeanie) Witkowski. He was predeceased by his parents, Ann and Tony Witkowski, and his brother, Steven Witkowski, his uncle John and (Ann)Witkowski, and cousin Bobby Witkowski. Despite this, he shared meaningful bonds with extended family and friends who will miss him and cherish the memories.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Avenue, Newburgh NY. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, February 20, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Brooks Funeral Home, with burial to follow at New Windsor Woodlawn Cemetery, 93 Union Avenue, New Windsor, NY 12553. A gathering will follow the burial (location TBD).
He will be remembered for his dedication to his country, his community, and his family. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to American Cancer Association , St. Jude's Children's Hospital or ASPCA in New Windsor, NY
