Wallkill, NY
Miguel Antonio Lugo passed away suddenly on Monday, March 1, 2021, at St. Luke's Montefiore Hospital in Newburgh, NY. He was 17 years old.
Miguel was born at Westchester Medical Center on April 26, 2003. He is the oldest of five siblings. He was a senior at Wallkill Senior High School and was set to graduate this June. Miguel enjoyed playing video games and skateboarding, and was a very athletic child who loved sports. He was an avid fisherman and basketball player. His true love however, was football, he was #25 for the Wallkill Panthers. He was known in the game for his strength and endurance, and everyone that played against his team knew they had to watch out for #25. He was a force to be reckoned with.
Miguel was a family man. He was not only the oldest sibling but he was the oldest cousin and the one everyone looked up to in the family. When his cousins were asked to describe Miguel, they said he is: athletic, loving, caring, goofy, angelic, kind hearted, bright, giving, helpful and of course handsome. Everything he did, he did with love. He will forever be remembered for his big loving heart. He was a true gentleman, always respectful and loved to give hugs. He had a passion for helping others, if he saw someone in distress physically or emotionally, he made it his job to ensure they were ok. If he saw someone working on something, he instantly offered to help them and gave it his all. When he walked into a room, you knew it instantly because he had such a presence and such a beautiful smile. He made people feel loved and happy by simply just being around. He had a beautiful outlook on life and always had a positive perspective on life's challenges. Miguel was a child of God and was strong in his faith.
He is survived by his loving mother and father Mallisa & Otto Smith, his sister Nataleigh Williams, his brother A'Keil Smith, all of Wallkill, NY; his step-brother Quentyn Mauntel of Ohio, his step-sister Gabrieal Mendiola of Texas; his loving grandparents, Julio & Dorothy Lugo of Wallkill, NY,grandmother Esther Smith of Newburgh, NY; many aunts & uncles: Jose & Angela Morales of Wallkill, NY, Julio & Marissa Lugo of Wallkill, NY, Bob & Lauren Eden of Wallkill, NY, Tina & Carlos Carrasquillo of Wallkill, NY, Kenneth & Shamara Jacobs of Hurleyville, NY, Glenn Smith Jr. of Newburgh, NY, Jonathan & Lisa Smith of Newburgh, NY, and Glennisse & Jessie Smith of Penns Grove, NJ; as well as several cousins who will miss him dearly.
