Murray Varine

Murray Varine was a long-tern resident of Brooklyn, NY, for over 65 years.

Murray passed away on September 21, 2023 at age 77 at his family home in Brooklyn, NY. He was born February 10, 1946 in Kings County Hospital of Brooklyn, New York to his parents, Jessie Murray and Blease Varine, who predeceased him.

Murray was previously married to Brenda Varine until March 1992, which ended in her death, after a long battle with her own sickness after less than 5 years of marriage.

Murray was employed as a stock broker at Apex Clearing House in New York City for 27 years, until retiring in 2012. He had previously worked as a mortgage broker and financial advisor. He was enjoying life being retired and independent for the last 10 years.

Murray was an accomplished rifleman, sharpshooter, and marksman. He graduated Alexander Hamilton Vocational and Technology High School in the City of New York, NY, in June 1963. Murray served in the Airforce from June 1963 to July 1967, reaching the rank of Captain.

Murray was predeceased by both of his parents, mother, Jessie Varine. and father, Blease Varine.

He had no surviving spouse and no children, but is survived by his only sister, Delores Williams, currently of Middletown Park Manor Nursing, Middletown NY; his two nieces, Teresa Calderon of Newburgh, NY, and Deborah Williamson of Lillington, NC; his nephew, Gregory Williams of Maybrook, NY; cousin, Vivian Garvin of Atlanta, GA; and various other family members.

Murray Varine will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Murray was also known as "Uncle Ray."

The family would like to thank the staff at Brooks Funeral Home, Newburgh, NY.

A celebration of his life will be given as private interment, he will be laid to rest beside his mother at Cedar Hill Cemetery at 5468 Route 9W, Newburgh NY 12550 on October 12, 2023 at 2:30pm.
