Nancy Ethel Kufs-DuBois was born on April 1st, 1935, to William Kufs and Irene Popper  Kufs in Poughkeepsie, NY, and died January 2, 2023 at home with family. She was 88. Predeceased by her parents, late ex husband Arthur DuBois, sons-in-law Nicholas Rash and James Rossing. She is survived by her sister Barbara Kufs, her daughters Melinda Hardy & husband Eric, Karen Rash, and Alison DuBois. She is also survived by her granddaughters Natalie Rossing and husband Alexander Howitt, Alaina Voulgaropoulos, grandson Benjamin Kalb and wife Starla, her great grandsons Tyler, Kyle, Travis and Emmit, her great great granddaughters Evelyn and Ashlyn and many cousins, friends, and loved ones.

Nancy was deeply spiritual. She practiced many conventional religions, finding enlightenment in the teachings of Buddhism, and eventually studying and living between the Kadampa Buddhism Meditation Temple in Glens Spey, NY along with the Etna Spiritualist Church in Etna, Me.  Nancy was passionate, strong-willed, never doubted herself, and was always on the go.

Nancy had a varied career starting as a telephone operator for NY Bell. She became the first female Project Supervisor for CLT, a Tax Appraisal firm, supervising 10 project offices throughout the North East. She was one of the first female restaurant managers for Steak and Stein in Columbus, Oh. Nancy was also a Certified Polarity Therapist, opening a Center in Wayland, Ma. Finally she retired from the City of Hartford Ct, as an Assistant Assessor.

Nancy was active in many social issues most notably during the Civil Rights Movement of the 60's, protesting in Washington DC on more than one occasion. Nancy would gladly discuss any topic, providing both insight  and perspective. Living by example she inspired many women furthering equal rights for all.

Powa prayers will be held Feb 27th 2024 at 7:30pm Kadampa Meditation Temple Center, Glens Spey, NY. In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to be made in Nancy's name to Camp Etna Spiritualist Association, Etna ME, https://www.campetna.com/
