Nathaniel Dewey Mitchell Jr, 80, entered into rest Monday, May 15th 2023 at home in Newburgh surroundedby his family. Nat, as he liked to be called, was born January 18th 1943 in Newburgh to Nathaniel and Martha Mitchell.

He is survived by his wife Theresa (McGrath) Mitchell and their sons Brian, Mark, and Christopher, along with daughter Marie Shuey of Pennsylvania and son James Mitchell of Cornwall from a previous marriage. He is also survived by sisters Shirley Hoey, Joan McCarthy and numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews and his beloved puppy dog, Penny. He was predeceased by his parents, his brother Raymond Mitchell, sisters Martha Mitchell and Mae Hoey.

Nat spent time working for Mastic Tile and A.C. Smith Plumbing and Heating before becoming Superintendent at Kingswood Gardens Condominiums where he retired in 2005 after 27 years. He enjoyed collecting coins and being outdoors, camping as much as possible, fishing, and tending to his garden.

A memorial service will be held Saturday May 20th from 2-4 PM at Brooks Funeral Home, Gidney Ave, Newburgh.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties.
