Beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and Aunt Norma Alexander's life full of love for her family, has peacefully come to an end with her death. Norma passed away on January 12, 2022 at the age of 68 after a courageous two year battle with cancer, surrounded by her loved ones in the comfort of her home in New Windsor, NY.
Norma was born on May 22, 1953 in Red Bank, NJ to parents Robert and Mary Hart Tomblin. She and her sister, Judith Rooney, spent their childhood together growing up across the country. Norma spent time in Alaska, Arizona, Kansas, Minnesota, Illinois, and Oklahoma, before ultimately settling down in Suffern, NY. She was a passionate high school athlete who loved playing softball, field hockey, and skiing for Suffern High School, where she graduated in 1971. Norma then went on to complete her Associates degree from Rockland Community College. Upon graduating, she started her 47-year career spanning with Western Union, EDS, and Fiserv, where she served as a systems security administrator, among various other positions over the course of her long tenure.
Norma was a warm and loving woman, who cherished the love of her family above all things. She was married to the love of her life, the late Edward Alexander, for 25 long happy years. Her hobbies included cruising and spending time with her beloved children and grandchildren. As a proud grandparent to her four grandchildren, Norma was devoted to attending every sporting event, musical concert, dance competition, and awards ceremony that she could. One of the simplest pleasures that brought joy to her life after her husband's passing was taking care of her yard.
Norma is survived by her loving children, Cynthia (Rob) DiBlasi and Joseph DiBlasi, her grandchildren Brandon Ramrattan, Christian Ramrattan, Francesca Montalvo, and Joseph DiBlasi, her sister Judith Rooney, nephews Michael Rooney, Christopher Rooney, William Alexander, her cousin Maryellen Hughes, her Uncle John Elflein, and lifelong friends Anne Conway, Susan Swiecicki, Elizabeth Swiecicki Moriarty, John Otte, Adrianna Otte, and Mirta Zusman Borujow. She was predeceased in 2014 by her late husband Edward Alexander, her mother Mary Tomblin in 2009, and her brother-in-law William Alexander in 2021.
Memorial and visitation will be held from 4pm-7pm on Tuesday January 18 at Brooks Funeral Home, at 481 Gidney Ave in Newburgh. A memorial mass will be held at Sacred Heart Church at 10am on Wednesday January 19. A burial will be held in spring, alongside her late husband, at Orange County VA Cemetery in Goshen.
