Osburn Bowes aka Ossie, age 77, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 22, 2024 surrounded by his loving daughter Jody and her family. This giant of a man graced planet earth on August 8, 1947 to parents Thelma Sherland and father Lyndon Bowes in Manchester Jamaica.

He was nurtured and cared for by his parents and had his formative years in the institutions of learning. He exhibited great potential which prompted his father to send him to one of the most sort after private School in St. Elizabeth the then FADA School, an institution for higher learning. A skill was paramount and so he was sent to Mr. Hayles Garage to learn Auto Mechanic. He mastered driving at a young age which propelled him to seek employment as a Driver. He worked as a bus driver with the renowned JOS bus company in Kingston, Jamaica; as a Heavy-Duty Truck Driver at Alumina Partners of Jamaica (ALPART) and later as a Taxi Operator plying the route from his home town Alligator Pond to Mandeville. He loved fishing and ventured in that craft at one point.

He later migrated to the United States of America and worked in the hospital where he learned several skills. He dedicated his life to supporting his children and helping others. His work ethics was unmatched and he took pride in every task he undertook, big or small. Those who knew him often remarked about his punctuality.

He leaves behind to morn his loss, his mother Thelma Sherland. He also leaves behind his four children -daughters Jody Bowes, Thelma Bowes and his sons Floyd Bowes and Kenneth Bowes. Osburn is also survived by his eight brothers Basil Bowes, Wayne Bowes, Douglas Bowes, Donovan Bowes, Byron Bowes, Everton Bowes, Kenardo Robinson, John Robinson and nine sisters Pauline Bowes-Hall, Janet Bowes-Mclaughlin, Deon Bowes, Ann-Marie Bowes, Pauline Robinson, Marcia Robinson, Althea Robinson, Andrea Rhoden, Dawn Bowes, as well as his grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a large amount of other relatives and good friends. Ossie will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by whose lives he touched.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 31st, at Brooks Funeral Home from 1 PM - 4 PM.
