Obituary

Patricia A. Lemieux

January 28, 1965 ~ January 22, 2025

Patricia Lemieux Byam, 59, was born on January 28, 1965 to her parents Majorie and Paul Lemieux in Flushing, Queens, NY. She entered eternal rest on January 22, 2025.

Patty grew up with the love of fishing and boating and would beg her older brother, Ted, to take her along on scout fishing trips. She attended Redeemer Lutheran School in Bayside, NY and graduated from Martin Luther School in Maspeth, NY.

As a teen, she worked with her father at his insurance company. Later jobs included Sales at a Kitchen and Bath showroom and being an Executive Assistant at McGraw Hill's Business Week and Bloomberg's Business Week. She became a Deck Hand at New York Waterway's Newburgh-Beacon Ferry where she made life changing connections with the passengers and coworkers. Patty most recently worked as a Media Assistant at M Case Media where she was surrounded by her dear work family.

Throughout her life she was active in the Redeemer Lutheran Church where she was confirmed in 1979 and the King of Kings Lutheran Church. To know Patty was to love her. With a welcoming smile and warmth, she had her own special way. She brought out the best in others and accepted, respected, and appreciated people from all walks of life.

Patty first met Captain Tim as a commuter passenger on the New York Waterway's Ferry. Together they traveled near and far catching fish and sunsets as they supported each other's dreams and families. As longtime friends, it seemed only natural to marry her soulmate, Timothy Byam, on April 13, 2020.

Always one to look out for the least of these, Patricia's connections with children and animals were obvious. She especially adored her cats, Maggie and Lamb Chop. In fact, Patty was fascinated by all living things with some clear exceptions! Yet, being petrified of wasps and hornets and her allergic reaction to mosquitoes and black flies did not stop her from appreciating the beauty and simplicity of nature. She was thrilled to see Tim dive in the Caribbean and visiting extended family in Tim's home state of Maine always included a fish tale or two!

Patty's positive influence reached far and wide to her circle of friends, neighbors, and coworkers who became family. We will do well to carry on her legacy of love, laughter and loyalty. She would want nothing more than having her treasured loved ones continue to spread her joy, faith, and passion with the world.

She is survived by her soulmate and husband, Timothy Byam, of New Windsor, NY and daughter Kimberly and her husband, Marc Marrone of Milford, PA. Patty, known as Nana to their children, Anthony, Johnny, Pauly and Joey, cherished them all as her own. Tim's extended family in Maine loved her dearly.

Patricia is also survived by her brother, Lt. Col. USAF Ret. Theodore Lemieux and his wife, Linda, of Montgomery, NY, and nephew Paul Lemieux ll, and wife, Justine Giffen- Lemieux and their daughter, Elizabeth, of Chicago, IL. Another nephew, Michael Lemieux and wife, Brianna King live in Holden, Maine. Her extended family includes numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends. She is predeceased by her parents, Paul and Marjorie Lemieux.

A Celebration of Patty's Life will be held at King of Kings Lutheran Church, 543 Union Ave, New Windsor, NY, 12553 on Saturday, February 8th at 2:00 pm with a reception to follow in the Fellowship Hall.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hudson Valley SPCA, 940 Little Britain Road, New Windsor, NY 12553.
