Patricia Maher

Patricia Gene Maher, a lifelong resident of Newburgh, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2024.  She was 93 years old.  The daughter of Guy and Margaret Elsie (Raab) Keist, she was born in Newburgh on July 15, 1930.

Patricia was a 1948 graduate of Newburgh Free Academy.  On May 1, 1960 she married the love of her life William J. Maher.  She had a lifelong career as a librarian at West Point until her retirement in 1990. Patricia was a devoted, caring, and loving person to her family and friends.

Survivors include her husband William of Newburgh, her son Sean Maher of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina; daughter Meghan Malnic and her husband Mark of Newburgh, NY; three grandchildren Madeline Maher, Cody Maher, and Mason Malnic, along with her nephew Frank Maher and his wife Valerie of Newburgh, NY.

She was predeceased by her son Shane Maher.

Visitation will be held at Brooks Funeral Home in Newburgh, NY on Wednesday, January 31, 2024 from 10-11 am followed by a service at the funeral home at 11 am. Entombment will follow in Cedar Hill Mausoleum, Newburgh.
