Patricia A. Schermerhorn

December 31, 1956 ~ January 23, 2026

Patricia (Patty) Schermerhorn passed away peacefully on January 23, 2026, after a long journey with FTD dementia.

Patty was born on December 31, 1956, in Patterson, NJ to John and Eileen Sanowski. She worked as a Registered Nurse at Nyack Hospital for over 40 years. She loved her career as a nurse and will be remembered for her kindness and compassion. She enjoyed reading, traveling, dining out and shopping.

Patty is survived by her sons Christopher and Brian Schermerhorn and grandson Christopher. She is also survived by her sisters Doreen Schreeck (Donald) and Eileen Bowman (John), several nieces, nephews, cousins and her Aunt Marilyn Conlon-Riser. She was predeceased by her parents John and Eileen Sanowski and her brother John B. Sanowski.

There will be a visitation on Wednesday, January 28th, 2026, from 2 - 5pm at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave, Newburgh, NY 12550. The Hudson Valley Nurses Honor Guard will have a service paying tribute to Patty on January 28th, 2026 at 4pm. A funeral mass will be held at 10am at Sacred Heart Church on Thursday, January 29th, 2026. Burial will follow at Calvary cemetery.
