Patricia G.
Sorrentino
March 17, 1930 – September 3, 2023
Patricia G. Cicconi was born on March 17, 1930, in Brooklyn, New York. She was 93 years old when she passed away at her home on September 3, 2023. She had resided in Marlboro with her husband of 63 years, Anthony F. Sorrentino, for the past 33 years until Anthony passed away in 2022. She was the daughter of Ferdinando and Enis (Sacerdote) Cicconi, and was raised in Brooklyn, New York. Patricia was the youngest of her siblings, with her brothers Andrew, Vincent, Lawrence, and Joseph, and sister Genevieve. She attended Catholic school in Brooklyn, and became employed as a key card punch operator with Metropolitan Life Insurance, working with her sister, in the same building that their father was an elevator operator. She was an excellent cook and a great seamstress, and received her certification in the Comptometry Course of Study from Lamb's Business Training School in 1952 (a comptometer was the first commercial mechanical calculator made from 1887 to the 1970's), and her diploma in Accounting from the International Correspondence Schools in 1974. She was the assistant chef at the McQuade Foundation for a number of years, and was also employed as an accountant at ETC. Patricia was later employed as a bookkeeper for 35 years with the Sorrentino Allstate Insurance Agency.
In 1959, she met Anthony Sorrentino, also of Brooklyn, and they were married on November 7, 1959 at Saint Ann's Roman Catholic Church, in Dongan Hills, Staten Island, after a short courtship. They were inseparable for the next 63 years, until Anthony passed away last year. They had triplet boys, Anthony, Patrick, and Paul, in 1960, and a daughter, Julie, in 1962. They moved to Staten Island in 1962, and later to Cornwall in 1972. They were the most loving, giving, and best parents for which any child could ever hope. They relocated to their retirement home, a log cabin on a lake with a waterfall, which they built together in Marlboro in 1990. Anthony and Patricia attended St. Mary's Church in Marlboro, and were members of the Marlboro-Milton Senior Citizens.
Patricia is survived by her sons Anthony and his partner Virginia Figlia, and Paul and wife Cathy, daughter Julie and husband Doug, grandsons Anthony, Vincent, and Lorenzo, great-granddaughter Winona Rose Sorrentino, nephews Jimmy Cicconi and Steven Cicconi, Gary Cicconi, and niece Paula Cicconi, and their extended families, brother-in-law Charles Sorrentino and sister-in-law Madeline (Sorrentino) Haney and their extended families, and numerous nephews and great nephews, nieces and great-nieces, cousins, and in-laws, and their families.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Friday, September 8, 2023, at the Brooks Funeral Home located at 481 Gidney Avenue in Newburgh, New York. Our Mom will be laid to rest with our Dad in a burial service at The Ulster County Veterans Cemetery at New Paltz Rural Cemetery, on a later date.
