Obituary

Paul D. Ostrander
September 12, 1989 - October 16, 2021
Gardiner, NY
Paul Daniel Ostrander, 32 years old, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Gardiner, NY on October 16, 2021.
Paul was born on September 12, 1989 in Newburgh, NY to adoring parents John & Barbara Ostrander. Although an only child, our house was always full of many school friends from Wallkill Nick Barnhart, Joe Sherman, Ashley Crinieri, Joe & John Dunnigan, Paul, Mike, Buck, Anthony, Ryan, Brian, AJ, Jackie, Jimmy and about 500 others according to the posts on his facebook page. Paul received an Associate in Science degree from SUNY Ulster in 2010 and recently went back to SUNY New Paltz where he was pursuing a career in music therapy. He worked as a journalist and photographer for midhudsonnews.com with Hank Gross and Cousin Ginny and enjoyed meeting all the local politicians and business people. He was a member of the Roseton Rod & Gun Club and the Wallkill Rod & Gun Club; fishing was a family tradition. Paul loved rollercoasters, skateboarding, collecting comic books and playing video games but his main passion was music. He gave lessons through his company AGPBT music. He played lead and bass guitar, piano and keyboards, and drums. He loved his jamming sessions with his "for fun" band with friends Josh Seaman and Chris Bender. His "for pay" band 7he 7team is where he met his brothers and bandmates Herb Goulding, Elijah Jennings and Marquis Camper. His friend from SUNY New Paltz, Darius Beckford, was also pursuing a career in music and sometimes played with the band.
He attended St. Benedict's chapel in Wallkill and took the name Melchizedek for his confirmation name because his favorite priest, Father Larry Gibney, said no one ever chose that name.
Paul is survived by his parents John and Barbara Ostrander who loved him beyond all measure every day of his life and will miss him every day of theirs.
Paul is survived by his Grandmother Barbara Grove (Gummy). He was her first grandchild and was born on her birthday. They shared their birthday celebrations together for every one of Paul's life.Paul is survived by his beloved Uncle Dan Grove, Jr., and his adoring Aunt Deb and Uncle Stan Nawrocki, and his Aunt Mary Francise. Paul is survived by tons of cousins. He took his role as the "big cousin" to the younger ones Daniel Grove III, Hannah and Austin Nawrocki very seriously and adored each one. He also loved his older cousin, Jonathan Devine and his many other cousins Matthew, Jennie, Eric, Rhiannon, Ryan, Shawn, Kathy, Jessie, Bubba, Tommy and all their children. Paul is survived by his great aunts June Maloney and Vera Mead and many other members of the Kish, Ostrander and Horace families. Paul is also survived by his loyal companion, his cat Commander who has been adopted by his parents.
Paul was predeceased by his Grandfather Daniel Grove, Sr (Pa) and made a trip to Hungary after his grandfather's death to fulfill his lifelong dream. Paul was the only member of the family to learn Hungarian so he could do the blessing at holiday meals in Hungarian. Paul was also predeceased by his Grandmother Mary Ellen Maglio and his Great Grandparents Helen and John Mitchell and Violet and Frank Horace.
We would like to thank our friends at RBT CPAs and Cosimo's Restaurant Group for their kindnesses.
