Peter James
Mone Jr.
July 1, 1968 – July 2, 2025
Peter James Mone Jr.
July 1, 1968 ~ July 2, 2025
Peter "Pete" J. Mone Jr., of Newburgh, NY, passed away on July 2, 2025, just one day after his 57th birthday.
Born on July 1, 1968, in the Bronx, NY, Pete was the (beloved) son of Margaret and Peter Mone of Newburgh.
He graduated from Newburgh Free Academy and went on to earn his associate's degree from the Westchester Business Institute. Pete proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps and was deployed on the front lines of Operation Desert Storm. A lifelong sports enthusiast, Pete grew up playing baseball and continued his passion for the sport into his adult life, becoming one of the leaders for his competitive men's baseball team, the Kingsbridge Angels (where he was affectionately known as "The General").
Outside of participation, Pete was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and Giants. He also had a passion for fantasy sports, particularly football and baseball; rarely was there a family gathering where the subject did not arise. Additionally, he loved all music. Not often did you see Pete pass up a chance to break out some moves and vocals.
Pete is survived by his parents Margeret and Peter Mone Sr; his siblings: Eugene Mone of New Fairfield, CT and his children Katie, Gavin and Meryn; Richard Mone of White Plains, NY; and Beth Mone Roth and her husband Brian of Orange Lake, NY with their children Aidan, Nolan and Finn. He is also survived by several other aunts, uncles, and cousins, along with his very best friend, Myrle.
Pete's home never lacked companionship, thanks to his cherished cats Cody and Cheddar, as well as family pets Mickey the cat and Coco the dog. Over the course of his life, Pete devoted himself to caring for those close to him. Whether it was keeping up the yard or entertaining loved ones with his endless one-liners, Pete was always a joy to have around. He will be forever missed and never forgotten.
