Phylis Ellen Silver

October 17, 1951 ~ July 13, 2026

Marlboro, NY

Phylis Ellen "Mimi" Silver, a cherished mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2026, at the age of 74. Born on October 17, 1951, in Newburgh, NY, Phylis lived a full and vibrant life.

Phylis was the beloved daughter of the late Francis A. Lander and Clara A. (Martini) Lander of New Windsor. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 49 years, John B. Silver. Phylis was the retired Office Manager and Owner of Frank A. Lander Paving Inc. of New Windsor, NY, a family business she helped build and run for many years.

Phylis’ true passion in life was collecting and selling antiques and home decor. She had an extraordinary talent for finding unique pieces and transforming spaces with her keen eye for design. She had a true vision. She spent a majority of her life running her personal business Phylis’ Antiques & Collectibles. This venture took her on many road trips to flea markets and antique shops all over the Northeast. Her two boys could always be found in tow learning their mother’s hobby and passion as they came of age. Her collections were known at several consignment shops around the Hudson Valley. In recent years, she became an avid collector of Mackenzie Childs items, even traveling to Aurora, NY, to visit the brand's factory and connect with fellow enthusiasts.

Phylis leaves behind a loving family, including her brother Ronald F. Lander and his wife, Ellen, of Wallkill; her sons John B. Silver and his wife Nettie of Marlboro, and Jason M. Silver and his wife Eve Lincoln of New Windsor. She was a proud grandmother to Vincent Silver of Marlboro, Jayson Silver, Eleanor Silver, and Lincoln Silver of New Windsor. Her memory will also be cherished by her sister-in-law Elizabeth (Silver) Morse and her husband Thomas of Burnsville, NC; her cousins and best friends Angelina Brand and her husband Frank of Deland, FL, and Frances Mary Weller and her husband Ronald of Debary, FL; and her nieces Anne Lytle and husband Kenny, Jennifer Vasta, Tricia Scancarello and husband Nick, Kelly Hinspeter and husband Tim, Kristin Chiavaro and husband Brendon, Amy Gillespie and husband Gary of Hagerstown, MD, and Michael Seymour and wife Shelly of Simpsonville, SC as well as many great nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Phylis’ life during visitation hours on Thursday, July 16, from 4 PM to 7 PM at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, July 17, 2026, at 11 AM, followed by a burial at Calvary Cemetery.

Phylis’ warmth, creativity, and unwavering love for her family will be missed dearly but remembered fondly by all who knew her.
