Rose Cosenza

August 12, 1929 ~ July 13, 2026

Rose Cosenza, age 96, of New Windsor, New York passed away on July 13, 2026.

Born August 12, 1929in Long Island City, NY, Rose was the daughter of Albina (Pepe) and Jack Vurro. She grew up in Astoria, NY and, as a young, independent woman, worked in various secretarial roles at companies throughout New York City and Upstate New York, including The Saturday

Evening Post and IBM. After marrying her husband, Alexander Cosenza in 1962 and the birth of their two daughters, Geraldine and Tara, they relocated to New Windsor, NY where she dedicated herself to raising her family.

Rose loved to cook, read, travel, and dance to ‘40s big band music. She enjoyed British mystery TV series and winning at the slot machines at casinos from Atlantic City to Las Vegas.

A beloved wife, mother, sister, and grandmother, Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Alexander Cosenza, brother, Felix Vurro, Aunts Geraldine and Jenni Pepe, and Uncle Antonio Pepe. She is survived by her daughters, Geri Cosenza-Terapane (Alex Terapane) of Poughkeepsie, NewYork, Tara Cosenza-Gossett (Richard Gossett) of Wappingers Falls, New York, and granddaughter Arden Terapane.

A visitation will be held on Monday, July 20th from 4:00pm-7:00pm at Brooks Funeral Home located at 481 Gidney Avenue, Newburgh, NY.

A Mass of the Christian burial will be held at Sacred Heart Church located at 301 Ann St, Newburgh, NY

An entombment will follow at the Cedar Hill Mausoleum located at 5468 Route 9W, Newburgh, NY
