Rosemary A. Martin
October 19, 1933 ~ April 13, 2024
Modena, NY
Rosemary Martin was born on October 19,1933. She was the daughter of the late Paul and Caroline Kerr.
Rosemary grew up in Poughkeepsie, New York on a very large family dairy farm called Brookland Farms. Rosemary and her siblings had a wonderful childhood, enjoying skating, swimming, riding horses and watching beautiful sunsets with her family every evening. Rosemary was the farmer's daughter and loved every minute of it. She was a regular roller skater at The Avalon in Newburgh taking the ferry from Beacon.
Rosemary then married Robert Martin and had three children. She worked at Wallkill Correction as a typist, then got a wonderful job at Castle Point VAMC that she loved as a secretary and retired from there. She received many secretarial awards.
Rosemary was a devoted catholic and an avid hiker. She loved hiking and biking at Minnewaska and Awosting, hiking into her early 80's. She had her own little personal oasis right on her property - a gorgeous pond where she would enjoy reading her books and swimming. She also enjoyed spending time with her beloved dog Joshua and her cat Priscilla.
Rosemary is survived by her siblings: Paul Kerr, Richard Kerr, Louise Tranncynger and Katy Pederson; her three children: Robert, Stephen and Julie Martin; six grandchildren: Steven Martin, Crystal Young, Ashley Martin, Paul Cusa, Jenna Martin and Bobby Martin; and great-grandchildren: Sarah, Collin, Craig, Chase, Andrew, Autumn, Lillian and Olivia. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her two sisters, Janis Camilla Kerr and Dorothy Bell.
