Rosita Forti

Rosita Forti, 88, entered into rest on May 4, 2023 with beloved family members by her side in North Myrtle Beach, SC.
She was the daughter of the late Juan and Maria Cruz Serrano Melendez.
Rosita is preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 years, Benjamin Forti, son Wilson, sister Alejandra Badillo and brother Ulpiano Melendez.
She is survived by her adoring children, Peggy Sanz (predeceased husband Carlos) and Benjamin Forti Jr. (wife Delilah), her siblings; Isabella Aponte and Carmen da Melendez, grandchildren Benjamin Torres (wife Lori), Tiffany Pineiro (husband Luis), Benjamin Forti III (wife Serena), Vincent Forti and Adriana Forti. She is also survived by her loving great grandchildren; Nicolas and Gavin Pineiro, Anthony and Aiven Romero, and Lincoln Forti, as well as nieces, nephews, step-family and many friends.
Born on December 1st, 1934 in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico. Rosita met her husband Benjamin at a carnival in New York City, later marrying him at the age of 16 in 1952. She worked at Paragon Garment Company with her sisters while growing her family.
Rosita loved the simple things of life; family time and parties, bingo, dominos, traveling around the globe, novelas, and was known to enjoy a cold cerveza. She feared no roller coaster or water slide.
Visitation will be heldfrom 2-8 pm on Friday, May 12at Brooks Funeral Home,481 Gidney Ave, Newburgh NY. A service will be heldat 8:30 am, Saturday May 13at the funeral home, with burial following in St. Raymond's Cemetery, Bronx, NY.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for your kind donations to the American Lung Association, to help battle asthma, a disease Rosita suffered her entire life.
