Sandra A. Waters
September 15, 1958 ~ November 12, 2024
Sandra (Sandy) Waters 66 of Newburgh passed away with her son and husband at her bedside at St Lukes Hospital Newburgh, NY on Tuesday November 12th.
She was born to Joseph and Janet Bouchey on September 15th, 1958, in Waterford NY.
Sandy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and friend. Family was most important to her. She is survived by her husband Michael Waters; son Marc Presha and wife Jeanette; her three grandchildren: Jaron, Nakai, Nalani; brother David Bouchey (Becky); sister Merry (Chrissy) Zapka (Lenny); her sister-in-law Georgette Nicholas; several nephews; and her mother's partner Whitey Grogan.
Fate brought Sandy and her husband together June 16, 2000, at her sister's wedding. While their bond was challenged through the years their love continued to stay strong and helped make her husband the man he is today. He is thankful for her support and the time spent together. Michael takes comfort in knowing she is now at peace and will be missed.
Sandy had many life experiences; she served our military in the United States Army spending time in Germany and Spain. Her career path encompassed many fields, restaurant, finance and retail. Her greatest career and most loved was Gigi's to her 3 grandchildren.
She was devoted animal lover and often came home with news that a new addition to the family was coming. She leaves at home her dogs Ruby, Daisy and cats Stripes and Dollie who continue to sit by her bedside eagerly waiting for her return as they miss her.
Her affectionate personality was contagious and made friends easily. She was the one to make you laugh even in challenging times and her priority was making sure everyone was having a good time.
One constant in Sandy's life showed in her steadfast love for her family. She adored, most in life, being a grandmother and making each holiday special for her grandchildren, often making everyone wear the same outfit at Christmas and making sure we all had our photo taken. We had to attend Easter Egg hunts, Trunk and Treat at Halloween and of course building Gingerbread Houses at Christmas that never quite looked like the box they came in but would say they looked great.
The family requests if you would like to make a donation in Sandy's name, please do so to the Town Of Newburgh Animal and Control Shelter.
Visitation will be held at Brooks Funeral Home on Sunday, November 17 from 1 - 4 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church on Monday, November 18 at 10 AM followed by burial at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
