Santa Zenaida Martinez
November 1, 1946 ~ March 30, 2026
Announcement
Santa Zenaida Martinez, 79 years old. Deceased March 30, 2026, in Newburgh, N.Y.
Life Story
Santa was born on November 1, 1946, in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic. She is the widow of Trifón Martinez. She was a dedicated mother and wife whose greatest joy was creating a loving home for her family; a faithful catholic, servant to God, she dedicated her life to her family and her church community.
Zenaida (as she loved to be called) or Cheno (as her siblings called her) was the person who never forgot a birthday, and always had words of kindness for the people around her. She loved gardening and planting. It was all she talked about when you came to visit her. To her children, she was a constant source of strength and a soft place to land. She taught us the value of giving, kindness, hard work, and showed us every day what unconditional love looked like in action. Mami's legacy lives on in the many lives she touched, as a friend, as a wife, as a mother, as a grandmother, and as a sister. She found her greatest joy in being around family and friends or simple pleasure serving people who needed her!
Family
She is survived by her daughters, Mabel Lopez, Angela Otero, and Chastity Martinez-Morales, her grandchildren, Maybelline Ventura, Ziara Beato, Beyonce Otero, Adrian E. Beato, Lindsay Otero, and Humberto A. Lopez Jr. Her sons-in-law Humberto Lopez, Juan Otero, and Edwin Morales, her brother, sisters, and their spouses, Hector Sanchez (Melba), Patria Reyes (Jose, deceased), Norma Sanchez (Pedro), Rita Sanchez-Murray (Terry), and Nereida Sanchez (Carlos), and all her nieces and nephews.
