Shavonne Latoya
Johnson
November 7, 1980 – November 18, 2023
Shavonne Latoya Johnson, a testament to God's goodness, and a beacon of transformation, was born on November 7, 1980. She returned to our Heavenly Father, on November 18, 2023, at 43 years young. She was a daughter to Larry & Leslie Johnson, sister to Shantel & Troy Brooks, mama to Branden, Juan and Justice, and "KiKi" (auntie) to Sage & Phoenix. This was her core, her heart, her family.
Shavonne was born at Lajes Field Air Force Base, Terceira Island, Azores, Portugal. She moved to Queens, New York shortly after. As a child, she loved to dance and help others in need. She was known to help those in trouble and take on battles that were not hers. She was built as a warrior and called to fight since her early days.
Shavonne birthed her first son, Branden Johnson, out of pure love. Branden served as her rock and best friend until her last day.
She married Juan Ortiz, III and birthed two beautiful children, Juan and Justice Ortiz. Juan and Justice served as her heartbeat and "why" until her last day.
Over the next few years, Shavonne continued her fight. She lived in South Carolina for some time and worked to balance her pain with the plans God had for her future as a single mom. She went to school to be an esthetician and massage therapist, and ultimately returned to New York to be with her family and start her own business in healing others through massage therapy.
Professionally, she devoted years of customer service in retail shoppes and Sterling Optical. She then worked at the EMS at Veteran's Affairs Hudson Valley Hospital System, Castle Point. Finally, she decided to work in her purpose and began her career at Spa Envy, then Elements Spa in Ridgefield, CT, as well as her own practice. Here, she learned her power and value in healing her customers, who became friends.
Shavonne was a servant, and loved helping others. She found joy in building up those who most would overlook. She sought out to help people feel good, feel seen and feel valued. She always found the positive in everyone.
Thankfully, in her last few months, she found love again in someone who saw the beauty and positive in her.
Just a week before her passing, she was the happiest, fullest and most proud of herself she ever was.
Shavonne was a survivor who faced trauma, hardship, and challenge. She was also a survivor who demonstrated love, life and forgiveness, and she was "just getting started".
Shavonne's life is a testament to God's goodness and favor. We are blessed to have witnessed her life transformation, and are gifted with her loving, accepting and forgiving heart.
