Shawn L. Auchmoody
October 1, 1968 ~ November 1, 2021
Hopewell Junction, NY
Shawn Llewellyn Auchmoody of Hopewell Junction passed away at home on Nov. 1, 2021. Shawn was born on October 1, 1968 in Poughkeepsie, New York. He was the son of Robert H. & Mary (Robbins) Auchmoody and is survived by his two brothers: Robert H. Auchmoody and his wife Trish of Pasco, Washington and Noel C. Auchmoody of Cuba, New York. He is also survived by his niece Sequoia Auchmoody, nephew Jacob R. Gulla, and great-nephew James Gulla.
Shawn left behind many good friends, including his right-hand man Todd McRitchie, lifelong buddy Larry Haynes Jr., his oldest sidekick Steven Hammond and his best friend Diana Lenz. He will be dearly missed by many, but happily greeted by his beloved dogs Blue, Scout, and Madison.
Shawn grew up in Dutchess County and graduated Roy C. Ketcham High School as a distinguished member of the class of 1986. He went on to the Simmons School of Mortuary Science in Syracuse, New York where he was valedictorian.
Shawn was the owner of several local businesses, including the renowned Robert H. Auchmoody Funeral Homes, and the current proprietor of A.S.O. Limousine Service and Flowers by Reni.
A humble man, Shawn was proud to support his community. He donated to the 9/11 Memorial in Fishkill and contributed to many local charities, especially the D.C. 10-13 Foundation which supports local first responders and their families in addition to the many discreet contributions he made as an entrepreneur.
Shawn was an avid outdoorsman who won many ice fishing competitions and golf tournaments - the 19th hole on the course was his favorite. His quick wit and sarcasm always kept his friends laughing. Shawn loved the Dominican Republic, and while competing for their diving team he won the Virginia State Bonsai Invitational Indoor High Diving Competition. Shawn enjoyed watching Fox News and classic films including "The Big Lebowski" and "Smokey and the Bandit" while eating takeout. No one enjoyed crinkle fries more than Shawn (crispy, please).
Calling hours will be held at Brooks Funeral Home at 481 Gidney Avenue in Newburgh, New York on Monday, Nov. 8 from 4 - 7 pm.
In memory of Shawn, please make a donation to your local ASPCA or perform a random act of kindness.
Rest in peace, Moody.
