Shawn P. Lahey

November 11, 1975 ~ October 25, 2024

Newburgh, NY

It is with great sorrow that we announce the untimely passing of Shawn Patrick Lahey, 48, of Newburgh, NY, on October 25, 2024.

Shawn was born in Denville, NJ to Joseph P. Lahey and Hilary Donahue Lah ey.  Shawn graduated from Wallkill Senior High School in 1993 and attended Orange County Community College and Manhattan College.  Shawn was involved in the construction trade for many years and became a master of many trades, especially plaster work.  He left many beautiful, finished products for all to admire and loved working on old houses.

Shawn is survived by his parents Joe and Hilary Lahey of Little River, SC, his sister, Theresa Trapani with husband Gary of Marlboro, NY, his brother Patrick Lahey with fiance Colleen Butler of Milford, PA, along with his nieces and nephew, Taylor Trapani, Alexa Trapani, and Patrick Lahey, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.  Shawn also leaves behind his longtime girlfriend Heidi Stellitano, her son Hunter, daughter Hayley, and he loved being Papa Shawn to Raelynn O'Connell and Leland O'Connell.

Shawn was extremely proud of his large Irish family as well as his Irish heritage.  He took great pride in being Irish.

Shawn's best furry friend Max (Doodle) also crossed the rainbow bridge this week.  Anyone who knew Shawn knew that Max was Shawn's faithful companion through all of the ups and downs.

All who knew Shawn would tell you that he was a kind and giving person.  He would do anything to help the people he loved.  People knew that if they called Shawn for help, he would come as soon as possible to save the day.  His many best friends can attest to that.

Shawn's final act of kindness was to give the gift of life through organ and tissue donation, including his beautiful blue eyes.

Visitation will be held at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Avenue in Newburgh, NY on Wednesday, October 30th from 4:00-7:00 pm.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Food Bank of the Hudson Valley or the Walden Humane Society.
