Shefit Bengasi passed away on October 20th, 2023 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Shefit Bengasi was born on March 3rd, 1944 in Gramsh, Albania, to parents Abedin and Ifete (Nova) Bengasi. His early years were shaped by the rich culture and traditions of Albania, laying the foundation for the caring family man he would become. He served in the Albanian Military in 1962, In September of 1970, Shefit married Hava Sulejmani, and together they raised three wonderful children. In 2001, he chose to move to Newburgh, NY, emphasizing his strong dedication to his family.

Shefit Bengasi is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Hava. He is also survived by his daughter, Albana Popllo, and sons Altin Bengasi and Arber Bengasi, along with their respective spouses: Erjon Popllo, Elona Bengasi, and Cassandra Zeffiro. Shefit is fondly remembered by his grandchildren, Eneida Popllo, Alexander Popllo, Altion Bengasi, Christopher Popllo, Emily Bengasi, and Eliana Bengasi. Along with many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends in Albania.

Shefit Bengasi's life was adorned with passions that reflected his vibrant spirit. His love for landscaping and gardening brought forth flourishing blooms that mirrored the beauty he cultivated in his own heart. A devoted fan of soccer, he found joy in the exhilaration of the game, cheering for his favorite teams with enthusiasm.

In quieter moments, Shefit cherished the simple pleasures of life. The morning and afternoon coffees shared with his beloved wife, Hava, became cherished rituals that filled their days with warmth and connection. An affable host, he found joy in entertaining company, often accompanied by the convivial spirit of raki, creating memories that linger in the hearts of those fortunate enough to share those moments.

These aspects of Shefit's life not only defined him but also enriched the lives of those around him, leaving a legacy of love, laughter, and shared moments that will be fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Visitation will be held at Brooks Funeral Home on Saturday, October 28th from 2pm - 5pm. A funeral service will take place at the chapel at Cedar Hill Mausoleum on October 29th at 11am, followed by entombment. The family extends an invitation to all who attend to join them for lunch following the services at 88 Charles St. Restaurant in Montgomery, NY.
