Sidney Weinheim, Sr. of New Windsor, NY passed away on Monday, July 8, 2013 at Wingate of Beacon after a long illness. He was 90 years old. The son of the late Herman & Louise Weinheim, he was born on July 16, 1923 in Manhattan, NY. He was married to Edna Hendricks Weinheim for 69 years. Sidney was a proud veteran of the US Army, having served our country during WWII. He was decorated with the Good Conduct Medal, the EAME Theater Ribbon, the American Theater Ribbon and the Victory Medal. He was a life member of Vails Gate Fire Co. & served as Chief Fire Commissioner, a life member of Orange County Firemen's Association as well as Vails Gate Firemen's Benevolent Association. Sidney is survived by his wife, Edna, of New Windsor and his two daughters, Linda Spreer & her husband, Edward and Carolyn Pacenza & her husband, Thomas Sr., also of New Windsor; two sons, Sidney Weinheim, Jr. and his wife, Madelyn "Lynn" of Fuquay Varina, NC and Stephen Weinheim and his wife, Barbara of Holly Springs, NC; his 6 grandchildren, Edward Spreer, Jr. of Milford, PA, Jill Nibe and her husband, Jonathan of Newburgh, NY, Jeffrey Spreer & his wife, Staci, of Montgomery, NY, Thomas " Tucker " Pacenza, Jr. & his wife, Anne Marie of Highland, NY, Christopher Pacenza & his wife, Tammy of Clifton Park, NY and Kara Weinheim of Holly Springs, NC; also his 7 great-grandchildren Nicole & Patricia Spreer of Newburgh, NY, Thomas III and & Haley Pacenza of Highland, NY, Kassidy Weinheim of Fuquay Varina, NC, Corbin Patterson & Regan Pitts of Holly Springs, NC and his favorite sister-in-law, Olivia "Dollie" Leibowitz of Newburgh; his nephew, Dennis Weinheim and his wife Rose of Long Island, NY and his niece Donna Weinheim of Long Island, NY. He was predeceased by his grandson Geoffrey Weinheim. Visitation will be held from 5-8 pm on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. A Funeral Service will be celebrated at 11 am on Thursday, July 11, 2013 at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery in New Windsor, NY.
