Obituary

Stefan Baranski of Newburgh, NY passed away on December 31, 2013 unexpectedly at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh. He was 85 years old. The son of the late Walenty and Antonina (Lisiecka) Baranski, Stefan was born on May 20, 1928 in Blizanw, Poland. He was retired from Tarkett Inc. in Vails Gate, a place where he loved to work and had many friends and pals. Stefan had a happiness about him always and it never quit. Stefan also loved the outdoors. He spent hours manicuring his lawn and almost used a squeegee to remove the puddles from his driveway. He was very kind and considerate of people. Stefan was a member of St. Francis Church in Newburgh. Stefan is survived by his loving wife of 52 years Janet Heroy Baranski, whom he married on July 1, 1961 in St. Mary's Church in Newburgh. They became soulmates and did everything together. He loved to dance and he danced many nights away at the Bear Mountain Inn with their full orchestra playing as he taught the love of his life, Janet, to tango, which was one of his favorite dances. Stefan had many medals bestowed upon him. He is also survived by another love of his life; as Stefan and Janet were blessed with their beloved, adored daughter, Gina M. Wiseman of Newburgh, NY and her husband James Wiseman. In addition, Stefan is also survived by his sister-in-law Justine Kobelt of Wallkill, NY and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 3 sisters and 1 brother. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 am on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in New Windsor.
