It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Stephen (Steve)Rose, a devoted husband, loving father, and beloved grandfather. Stevepassed away peacefully, with his wife Cathie at his side, on April 18th, 2023,at the age of 73 after a courageous battle with cancer.Steve was born on September 1, 1949, one of six children born to Louis andMadeline Rose of Ossining, New York. Steve, his siblings, and their cousinswere all very close as children and remained so throughout their lives. Heleaves behind his brothers and their spouses David & Gail, Tom & Karen, Billy& Bliss, and Kenny & Marie and their younger sister Terry.While attending Ossining High School, Steve met his future bride Cathie, andthey continued dating even as he attended Northeastern University for bothhis undergraduate and graduate degrees in Chemical Engineering. Steve andCathie were married on September 11, 1971, and would spend the next 51years together. Steve was a loving husband and father to his three children,Stephanie and her husband Marc, Suzanne, and Jeff, and a proudgrandfather to Stephen, Matthew, and Elizabeth. Steve cherished his familyabove all else and loved spending time with them, whether it was playing golf,bowling, watching Ranger hockey games, or simply enjoying a meal together.Steve had a successful career as a chemical engineer and Plant Manager forMannington and Tarkett Tile, where he garnered respect from colleagues andpeers alike. He was a natural leader and innovative problem solver who had alife-long curiosity for learning and understanding how things worked. He was anatural teacher who enjoyed helping others and had an uncanny ability formaking the complex seem simple.Steve will be deeply missed by his family and friends as his passing leaves agreat void in the hearts of all of those who knew him. He will be rememberedfor his unwavering commitment to his family, his kind and generous spirit, hislighthearted nature, and his gentle smile.The family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation to the nurses anddoctors of St. Luke's Hospital, Hackensack Meridian University MedicalCenter, and Hospice for their dedicated care and support during Steve'sillness.A Celebration of Life in honor of Steve will be held at a later date. In lieu offlowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American CancerSociety in Steve's memory. Steve's legacy will continue to live on through his
family, friends, and colleagues, who were fortunate enough to have knownand loved him.
