Steven K Gunsett, 75 years old of Wallkill, NY, passed away on February 9th, 2025 surrounded by his loving family.
Steven was born August 2nd, 1949 in Brooklyn, NY. He is the son of the late Clarence Gunsett and Florence Goodemote.
Steven married the love of his life Susan Gunsett on November 4th, 1972 in Dobbs Ferry, NY. They spent 52 years full of laughter and love, embracing every moment together. Their love is something very few achieve, but most dream of experiencing.
He was in the United States Air Force and served in Vietnam. He was a member of the American Legion, as well as a member of the Wallkill Rod & Gun Club.
Steven joined IBM in 1973 in Miami, Florida and worked in various locations in New York, retiring in 2015 from Sterling Forest, NY. He had a passion for hunting and fishing, as well as spending time with his family, especially at his favorite vacation spot, Myrtle Beach, SC.
He is survived by his loving wife Susan; his son Cliff Gunsett and loving wife Stephanie Gunsett; and his mother Florence. He also leaves behind his grandchildren: Matt Earley, Dylan Gunsett, and Leah Gunsett, whom he loved dearly. He is survived by his nephew, Phiip Gunsett; and cousins Danita Curry, Donna Maszczyk, Bill and Lisa Thompson; his brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Kathy Troseth; sister and brother-in-law, Deborah and Raymond Quinn; and nieces and nephews, Jill (Chris) DeRobertis, Nicholas (Kristen) Troseth, Kelly Quinn, Casey (Catie) Quinn, and Kyle Quinn. He also leaves his long time friend, Kim Zgrodek.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Tara Earley, and brothers, Elwood and Walter Gunsett.
Visitation will be held at Brooks Funeral Home on Thursday, February 13 from 4 - 7 PM. A prayer service and military honors will take place at 6:30 PM.
