Teresa Jenkins

Teresa Jenkins of Newburgh, NY passed away on November 27th, 2025. She was 80. Teresa was born on October 1st, 1945 in San Giuseppe Vesuviano, Italy, the beloved daughter of the late Maria Pellegrino.

Teresa studied in Naples, Italy before moving to New York in 1965. She retired in 2019 from the NYS Department of Labor, where she loved helping people as an unemployment counselor.

Teresa adored her family, especially her grandchildren Lilah and Joey who she loved beyond words. She had a huge heart, often putting the needs of others before her own. Teresa was also proudly devoted to her Catholic religion.

She was a lover of current events, trivia, world history, opera and cooking – which she was well known for. She never backed down from a challenge and would go to any length for the happiness of her family and friends. To know "Mama J" was to love her as she was truly one of a kind.

Surviving are Teresa's sons; John of Milford, CT and David of New Windsor, NY, brother Giuseppe Mazza of Ottavino, Italy, sister Rosaria Mazza of San Giuseppe, Italy, her sister Lucia Mazza and her husband Gennaro Iovino of Ottavino, Italy, her grandchildren Joey and Lilah and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Teresa was predeceased by mother Maria Pellegrino, brothers Franco and Domenic Mazza and brother-in-law Giovanni Cricitelli of Italy and her son Frank and her daughter Glenda of Newburgh, NY.

Friends may visit from 4pm-7pm on Wednesday, December 3rd at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh, NY

A mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, December 4th at Sacred Heart Church, 301 Ann St., Newburgh, NY followed by burial at Calvary cemetery in New Windsor.
