Theresa J. Cornish, of Cornwall-on-Hudson, a Supervisory Chemist for the United States Mint at West Point and a life-long resident, entered into rest on Tuesday, December 4, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. She was 47.Born in Newburgh, on March 16, 1971, Theresa was the daughter of Joseph and Patricia (Stanko) Cornish. She was a graduate of the College of the Holy Cross and also attended John Jay College of Criminal Justice. Theresa worked as a Supervisory Chemist at the United States Mint, West Point NY for over twenty years.Theresa died after a brief but fierce battle with cancer, surrounded by her family. She enjoyed shopping, traveling to new destinations, her commute to work over Storm King Mountain and her walks along the shores of the Hudson River, in search of the perfect heart shaped rock. Most of all she enjoyed laughter with her friends, co-workers and family. Her smile and infectious laugh will be missed by all who knew her.Left to cherish her memory are her parents, Joseph and Patricia Cornish, boyfriend Steven Manganello of Cornwall-on-Hudson, her brother Joseph Cornish of Boston, MA and her beloved cat Johnny.Visitation will be held from 2 to 5pm on Sunday, December 9 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave. Newburgh, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am on Monday, December 10, at St. Thomas of Canterbury, 340 Hudson Street, Cornwall-on-Hudson. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery, Cornwall-on-Hudson.
