Therese M. Porr, of Newburgh, entered into rest on Sunday, October 5, 2014. She was 83. Daughter of the late Michael and Margaret (McManus) O'Meara, she was born October 9, 1930 in Manhattan. She was married to Harold Porr for 64 years. Harold survives at home. Therese enjoyed her employment in her later years at JC Penney. She was a parishioner of St. Patrick's Church in Newburgh, and enjoyed golfing at Osiris Country Club. In addition to her husband, Harold, she is survived by her children, Harold Porr III and his wife Joan of Newburgh, Peter Porr of Newburgh, Elizabeth Mack and her husband Steven of Willow Spring, NC, Therese Straut and her husband Michael of Cary, NC, Mary Perri and her husband Leo of Wallkill, and Margaret Cannelli of Marlboro; her sister, Anne; her brothers, Thomas and James; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Michael Porr, and her sister, Loretta. Visitation will be held from 2-4 & 6-8 pm on Wednesday, October 8 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, October 9 in St. Patrick's Church, 55 Grand St., Newburgh. Burial will be private in Calvary Cemetery, Long Island City, NY. In honor of Therese's charitable ways, the family asks a kind gesture or good deed be done in her memory.
