Victor James Lucas, Sr., "Vic" of New Windsor entered into rest on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at home. He was 88. Son of the late Thomas and Victoria Skoda Lucas, he was born on November 22, 1924 in New Windsor. On August 14, 2004 he married Brenda R. Lucas, who resides at home. Vic was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Newburgh. Victor's life was one of triumph-he was a self-taught man that mastered carpentry as well as any trade. He was proud to have served his country in WWII and was one of the first soldiers to arrive on Japanese soil during the war. He served his life as a countryman, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He built many homes in the area and enjoyed hobbies including wooden toy cars and Doll houses in his retirement. He will always be remembered by all as a man of honor and integrity. He will be sadly missed but always remembered and loved by his family and friends. In addition to his wife, Brenda, survivors include his children: Karen Bothwell and her husband, James of Bonita Springs, FL, Christine Clark and her husband, James , of Salisbury Mills, NY, Cindy DeMaro and her husband, Nicholas of Newburgh, NY, Victor Lucas, Jr. and his wife, Diana of New Windsor, Debora DeGiorgis and her husband, Gregory of Shohola, PA; step-children, Kevin Adams of Walden, NY and Jeremy Adams and his wife, Christine, also of Walden, NY; sadly missed by his grandchildren,James Bothwell, Dawn Borg, Wendy Houlder, Nicholas DeMaro, Matthew DeMaro, James Clark, Gregory DeGiorgis and Michael DeGiorgis, Brillion Adams, Kyle and Sean Adams; great-grandchildren, Mitchell, Claire, Ian Bothwell, Liam Borg, Parker & Lyla Houlder, Skyla and Nicholas DeMaro, many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Faith M. Lucas and step-child, Jeffrey Adams of Walden, NY; two brothers, including Thomas Lucas of New Windsor and three sisters. Visitation will be held from 5-8 pm on Tuesday, March 19 at at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Avenue, Newburgh, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 20 at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Newburgh. Burial will follow in St. Francis Cemetery, New Windsor.
