In Loving Memory of
Vincent “Vinny” “Wavey” Javinett
Newburgh, NY
June 25, 2026
Vincent “Vinny,” affectionately known to so many as “Wavey,” was born on a wintry morning on February 21, 1992 in Kingston, NY. He most recently lived in Newburgh, NY until unexpectedly passing away on June 25, 2026. Wavey leaves behind a legacy of determination, kindness, laughter, and inspiration. He was a source of joy, support and motivation for everyone fortunate enough to know him. He firmly believed that anyone could accomplish anything through hard work and determination, and he lived those words every day. His positivity and competitive spirit were contagious, whether you knew him through work, gaming, running, or countless hours on the basketball court or in the boxing ring in his earlier years.
Wavey was an extraordinary athlete whose passion for running was matched only by his relentless drive. In October 2022, he set the fastest known time (FKT) on the New York section of the Appalachian Trail—93 miles of some of the state’s most rugged and technical terrain, featuring more than 18,000 feet of elevation gain. He completed the course in an astonishing 22 hours. Nearly four years later, that remarkable record still stands as a testament to his grit, endurance, and unwavering spirit.
Beyond athletics, Vinny was a voracious reader and an unapologetic lover of words. A true word nerd, he delighted friends and family with his expansive vocabulary and uncanny ability to weave the perfect word into any conversation. He was a man of many surprising talents, always eager to learn, challenge himself, and encourage others to do the same.
Those who knew Vinny will remember his unwavering optimism, his ability to lift others up, and the passion he brought to everything he pursued. His absence leaves an immeasurable void in the hearts of all who loved him.
Vinny is survived by his loving parents, Vince and Chris Javinett; his beloved sister, Vanessa Javinett, whom he adored beyond measure; his devoted friend, Brian Fowler, and the Fowler family; his Innis Avenue family; his FedEx Ground family; his Hudson Valley Trail Runners family; his Super Smash family; and a host of cherished friends and loved ones, too numerous to mention by name, whose lives were forever enriched by knowing him.
Vinny’s legacy is one of perseverance, friendship, and living life with unmatched enthusiasm. And in true Wavey fashion, there is one final message he would undoubtedly want everyone to remember:
He hated mayo—and he wanted the world to know.
