Vincent J. Santacroce

June 27, 1948 ~ May 28, 2024

Vincent "Vinnie", J. Santacroce, a lifelong resident of Newburgh, NY, passed away peacefully at the Kaplan Family Hospice Center with his wife Leona by his side on Wednesday, May 28th, 2024. Vincent was born in Newburgh, NY on June 27th 1948, the son of the late Armand Santacroce and Catherine "Caye" Mastrota Santacroce. Vincent was predeceased by his loving sister Lorraine Santacroce in 2020.
Vinnie attended Newburgh Schools and graduated from Newburgh Free Academy in 1966, received his associates degree from Orange County Community College, and his bachelors degree from Mount Saint Mary College in 1986. During this time he served in the United States Army Reserve receiving honorable discharge in December of 1976. Vinnie also worked a long career as a TTA for Verizon Communications. During his many years at the telephone company he enjoyed a packed social calendar including his bowling league at Pat Tarsio's, taking his boat out on the Hudson River with friends and family and his softball league participation. After retiring he worked as a part-time service coordinator and dispatcher for Clegg Brothers Garage Door Company in New Windsor. After retiring from Clegg Brothers much of his enjoyment came from watching his great-grandsons Nicky and Coop play baseball at New Windsor Little League and for NFA baseball, his alma mater.
Vincent is survived by his wife Leona of Newburgh; daughters Robin Oster of Atlanta, Georgia and Toni Flynn of Lake Mary, Florida. He was a loving grandfather and "Poppy" to all including his grandchildren Amanda Schmidt, her husband Maynard and their sons Nicholas and Cooper of New Windsor, NY. Jenna Hindes, her husband Christopher and their sons Oliver and Milo of Atlanta, Georgia. Logan Oster, his wife Ginny and their children Ellie and Clark of Atlanta Georgia. Kayli Kapec, her husband Andrew and their children, Benjamin, Cameron, Samuel, and Katherine of Tallahassee, Florida and his youngest grandchild Jesse Piorro of Seattle, Washington.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at Vassar Brothers IR department, St. Lukes/Cornwall Infusion Center, the nursing staff at Montefiore St. Luke's Hospital, and Kaplan Family Hospice for their caring, compassionate, and loving care.
