Wallace Grant Odell, 97, a lifetime area resident, entered into rest on Thursday, October 26, 2017. The son of the late Jesse and Sarah (Johnson) Odell, he was born May 29, 1920 in Haverstraw, NY. He was married to the late Velda (Greiner) Odell, who predeceased him in 1978, and the late Catherine Odell, who predeceased him in 2016.Wallace proudly served his country in the US Navy and retired as Plant Engineer for Lone Star New York Trap Rock in Poughkeepsie. He was an avid golfer and ham radio operator, an amateur guitarist, and his mind for engineering led him to create several amateur inventions. Survivors include his children, Grant Odell and his wife Tamar of Highland, Adah Nicklin and her husband William of Newburgh, Pamela Weeks and her husband Edward of Highland, Janet Kirby and her husband David of Newburgh, Russell Odell and his wife Ellen of Newburgh, and Joel Odell of Massachusetts; 21 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren; a niece Beverly Odell Leach, as well as many other nieces and nephews. Services will be private, with private burial in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Newburgh.
