Born on July 4, 1929, in Newburgh, New York, he was the son of the late Earl E. Davis Sr. and Gertrude McDowell Davis Marchie. Throughout his life, Bill lived in several communities he called home, including Newburgh, NY; Fayetteville, NC; and Matamoras, PA. Known affectionately as Dad, Poppy, Pop, Uncle Billy and Cap'n, he was deeply cherished by those who knew him.

Proud to have been born on Independence Day, Bill had a deep love for his country and a fondness for Americana symbols like bald eagles and lighthouses. He also enjoyed Mickey Mouse and found joy in life's simple pleasures. Above all else, he treasured time spent with family.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 36 years, Genevieve Davis; his children: James Davis and wife Gina; Karen Conklin; and Steven Davis; stepchildren: Jim Schneider and wife Jackie; Quinn Schneider and wife Ginny; and Julia Dumont and husband Steve. He also leaves behind his beloved cockatiel Paco.
Bill is remembered by his brother-in-law Daniel Dixon and wife Adele; sisters-in-law Isabelle Dixon and her husband James; and Patricia Dixon and her companion Jeff. He leaves behind numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
He was predeceased by his children William T. Davis Jr., Darlene A. Davis, and adopted son Raymond Vega; grandson, Robbie Schneider; brother Earl Davis Jr.; sisters Helen Sayles, Lilian Riglioni, Gloria Hansen, Dorothy Davis, Nira Gerkin, and Joan Bowen; brothers-in-law John Dixon, James Dixon, Robert Dixon, Percy Dixon, Thomas Dixon; and sisters-in-law Virginia Thompson and Della Marshall.
