William "Curley" S. Gayle, 72, entered into rest on Monday, April 2, 2018. The son of the late Lewis and Kathleen (Obie) Gayle, he was born August 21, 1945 in Newburgh.William attended Newburgh Schools, served in the National Guard, and was a member of Bikers Club. Curley was a kind and straight-forward guy, and to know him was to love him - he was loved by all. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Gayle; his children, Curtis Bullock of Wilkes Barre, PA, Glynis Wynn and Dwayne Williamson of Beacon, NY, Darnell Williamson of Schenectady, William Gayle and Ruby Gayle of Goldsboro, NC, Yvetta Monroe and Jermaine Monroe of Newburgh;sister Delores Gayle of Newburgh; Godsister Ida Collins; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews; special nephew Willie Gayle; and special friends Dianne Williams, Stanley Robinson, Stephen Coning, and faithful companion "Rocky". In addition to his parents he was predeceased by three children, Gregory, William Jr., and Sonya Gayle; and five brothers, Lonnie, Lewis, Charles, Robert and Carl Gayle. Visitation will be held from 11 am-1 pm on Friday, April 13 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh, with a graveside service following at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Newburgh.
