William E. Lampreau, Jr.

William E. Lampreau, Jr. (Bill) passed peacefully at his home in Wallkill surrounded by his family on May 19, 2024.

Bill was born in Newburgh on May 26, 1934 to William E. Lampreau, Sr and Bertha Torraca and was an only child. He married his high school sweetheart, Joan H. Weir, on June 26, 1955.

He attended Newburgh Free Academy, and played three years of Varsity Football under Stan Hemingway, winning the1954 DUSO Championship. He retired after 55 years of employment with The IBEW Local 631 Electrical Union. Bill served honorably with the United States Army Corps of Engineers as well as The Air Force Reserve. He was involved in many organizations including the management and coaching for The Town of Newburgh Little League. Bill was also the Secretary Treasurer of The Town of Newburgh Lions Club for many years. Fishing, golfing and enjoying lunch with family and friends were some of his favorite things to do. He was also an active parishioner of Sacred Heart Church, Newburgh NY.

Bill is survived by his son, Thomas W. Lampreau and his significant other Robin Valerio; daughter, Jill M. Lampreau; grandsons, Thomas J. Lampreau and Tyler W. Dippel; and granddaughter, Carly M Dippel.

Visitation will be held at Brooks Funeral Home on Sunday, June 2 from 1 - 4 PM. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church on Monday, June 3 at 10 AM followed by burial at Calvary Cemetery.
