Anna M. Denton, 86 of Newburgh, NY entered eternal rest on Wednesday, July 28, 2021. She is the daughter of the late Antonio and Nicolena (Bertolini) Mele, born in Newburgh, NY on December 31, 1934. She married Edward W. Denton on August 9, 1953 at Sacred Heart Church, Newburgh, NY.
Anna was employed by the Marlboro Central School District at the Middle Hope Elementary School as a Foodservice worker for many years, and then later returned as a Lunchroom/Recess Aide. She was also employed for many years at the Big Three Deli.
"She was a beloved Mom and Nanny". She loved to cook and bake all her favorite foods. Anna also used her voice to advocate for the residents and staff at Sapphire Nursing Home.
Survivors include her four daughters, Toni Haney and her husband Bob, Jo-Ann Schaffer, Debbie Pagano and her husband Frank, Nicolena Newhall and her husband John; grandchildren: Sean and Kristin Joyce, Justin and Kristin Joyce, Cara and Donnie Weber, Amy and TJ Meyer, Frankie and Melissa Pagano, Christopher Pagano, John Newhall, Daniel Newhall, and Bella Newhall; great-grandchildren: Kylie Meyer, Alyssa Weber, Trace Meyer, Hannah Pagano, Amelia Pagano, Sofie Joyce and Roman Joyce. Besides her parents, she was pre-deceased by her husband Edward, son-in-law Bob Schaffer, brother Louis Mele, sisters Mary Mele and Genevieve Berardinelli.
Visitation will be held from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, August 1, 2021 at Brooks Funeral Home, Newburgh, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, August 2, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Church in Marlboro, NY.
